Syrah Rosé – La Chapelle Montmija
History
Montmija is the name of the ribautois’ vineyard of Juliette and Jean Vialade the family patriarch. Visionary of his time, Jean Vialade, president of the cooperative winery in Ribaute, made it the first European cooperative winery 100% organic 35 years ago. Montmija sign today declination varietals and vintages « bio« of our company.
Geography
The vineyards are located near the sands of Camargue. The soil is sandy clay. The climate is typically Mediterranean, hot and very windy. The wind makes a good pollination, dry leaves and the soil surface and reduces the pressure of downy mildew. This terroir is suitable for organic farming.
Vineyard and conduct
The vines are fully mechanized to be easily farmed organically. The grapes are healthy and can be brought to perfect maturity. The
whole plot is carried Royat cordon. The yield is 50 hectoliters per hectare maximum.

Vinification and aging
The harvest is fully mechanized and nocturnal. The grapes are yet protected from harvest bin by carbon dry ice. The harvest is then macerated at low temperature and under protected atmosphere for 2 to 4 hours in the press. The juice will then be decanted and cold racked prior to fermentation. After a slight addition of yeast fermentation will take place at low temperature: 14-16 ° C for better flavor development. Blend with a touch of Grenache just before bottling, Syrah rosé–La-Chapelle is bottled in the spring.
Tasting and gastronomy
Bright pink with purple highlights. Aromatic nose of red fuits and mint persistent, long finish. Notes of fruit compote and crushed red fruit. Fresh and aromatic
