Château Remouly
Producer
Philippe Courrian
History
The Courrian family, owner of Château Tour Haut Caussan in the Medoc and Château Cascadais in the Corbières, is proud to have discovered, some ten years ago, the 10 hectare terroir of Château Rémouly, and to have planted vines on it. This is the cuvée born from this new adventure which Philippe Courrian is pleased to present you today.
Location
This Languedoc vineyard is located in Central Corbières on the terroir of Saint Victor, village of Saint–Laurent.
The vines are planted on high terraces, of the Rec de Remouly (brook draining stormy rains) with a clay-limestone soil of pebbles rolled, carried along then deposited by floodwaters. The altitude is 165 m.
The climate is Mediterranean, its influence tempered by the cool valley where the vineyard stretches out.
Vineyard
Special emphasis is given to the training of the vineyard and each plot is landscaped like a garden. Philippe Courrian practices integrated farming and has a passion for olive trees. The harvest is manual and conducted by a team of Andalusian workers. The yield is limited to 45 hl per hectare. The vineyard is in second years of organic reconversion.
Red grape-varieties
This wine is a blend of 60% Carignan, 20% Grenache and 20% Syrah.
Wine-making and maturing
The vinification is traditional, in a light, renovated cellar, with long vatting time. Partial maturing (40%) in oak casks. Bottling of one single cuvee, matured in bottles for 12 months.
Tasting and food-pairing
Rather deep ruby red colour. The nose is aromatic and fruity, underlined by a beautiful touch of oaky vanilla.
A tasty red wine with lovely supple tannins, nice and smooth, developing to notes of garrigue and ripe cherries.
Perfect throughout the meal, with grilled or stewed meat, poultry and game, as well as dark chocolate cakes and of course cheese.
Serving temperature: 18°C.
